Wake up with a Beautiful Smile!

Sedation Dentist in Bay area

For many, the memory of a painful dental experience overshadows the importance of maintaining their dental health.  Their anxiety level can escalate by the simple thought of calling to set up a dental appointment.  Traumatic childhood dental experiences can also surface during a dental visit though there is no real similarity to the past.   Patients who suffer from these conditions benefit from dental procedures performed by Dr. Steinmetz using sedation dentistry.

Prior to their dental appointment, the patient takes a small pill and a companion drives them to their dental appointment.  By the time they arrive, the patient is pleasantly drowsy and is escorted to a treatment room. The patient is then covered with a warm blanket and placed on a monitor to watch their vital signs.  Another pill may or may not be administered. When the patient reaches a comfortable level of relaxation, their dental treatment begins.  When the treatment is completed, the patient's companion drives them home to continue their sleep.

A major benefit is total relaxation and little or no memory of the treatment session.

Advantages of oral sedation include: It is easily administered (no needles), generally has a low incidence of side effects, the patient can breathe independently, and the patient retains the ability to interact with and respond to the dentist and staff. Dr. Steinmetz was featured in Valley Lifestyle Magazine regarding oral sedation.
